Obscure Football Reference of the Day

When Sonny tried to pay for his water at the pub with a 50 pound note Steve accused him of waving the money around like it was the 'FA Cup.' For those who are curious, the FA Cup - besides obviously being a trophy - is a long standing and prestigious open tournament in England that any football club in the Football Association can partake in. (this is what FA stands for, not what Jacqueline was thinkng) Although the finalists these days are inevitably one of the big money clubs like Arsenal or Chelsea, there are often upsets in the early rounds of the competition that are quite exciting, and it gives teams an opportunity to compete against clubs they normally would not play against.

Papa Smurf played in an early round FA Cup game a few years back.

Who did Papasmurf play for?

Same "anon" as above. I've been seeing many more City and United references (graffiti, comments, balls, etc.) than in years past. If I'm not mistaken, one of the producers was a big Spurs fan, and would insert references to THFC pretty regularly.

I was visiting friends in East London and their team - Levitt Road FC - was short a player so after a night of much beer and curry I strapped on a pair of boots that were a size too small and played the worst half of a game of my life.
