With deepest regret

The Stanfields Underwear Company of Truro, Nova Scotia would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest regret at the passing one Charles Stubbs of Weatherfield.

For many years, Mr. Stubbs was a faithful customer of ours and had a particular fondness for our line of athletic t-shirts, which we understand are called "vests" in the U.K. We also understand that Mr. Stubbs enjoyed our shirts so much that he would often wear them without a shirt or sweater over them.

We are truly sorry for your loss.

Now that there's what we'd call a "wife beater".

I was across the road from Stanfield's factory in Truro on Wednesday, attending a meeting at the local school board offices. All the windows weren't draped in black then...

Serenity, that's what they are called in N.S. too -- wife beaters.

Corrie Street will be quiet without Charlie Stubbs and free of a bully.
