Westcoast Fan Asks....

Can Eddie Murphy even sing?

That would be a 'No'.

And yes I remember dancing to this at 'Pat and Marios' at Younge and Eglington (aka Young and Eligible) back in the day....so NOW who's old?

Freddy Mercury on the other hand....

(If anyone can find the Corrie version of this, pleae let me know.)

CORRECTION:
I take it back, he can sing.

This was the best I could find and it's very short and definately NOT workplace safe, but if you are at home and you don't mind cussing...here's Eddie singing properly.

That's Rick James in that video.

And yes, Eddie Murphy is actually an excellent singer. "My girl Wants to Party All the Time" is not a true representation of his tallent. Did you even see Dreamgirls?

Oh I know Rick James when I see him.

LMAO - 'Did you even SEE Dreamgirls?'

No, because I actually live under a large rock and only come out in time for Corrie.

Well, I'll have to rent it, because I just have never seen Eddie Murphy sing well.

He is awesome. A real showman.

I own Dreamgirls. Don't even start with me and Dreamgirls.

p.s. "Dreams girls" is one of my pet names for my boobies.

Mine are named, 'Absolutely' and 'Fabulous'.

HA!

His work in Dreamgirls was incredible. He earned his paycheque in that one.

Rent it, if for no other reason than to have Jennifer Hudson blow your hair back.

His duet with Shabba Ranks, on the other hand...

He did a duet with Shabba Ranks? John, why do you know this? That is so funny.

When you say "His work in Dreamgirls" you are talking about the movie and NOT my breasts, right?

John said...

Deb, well, it depends on how well you know the man...

We haven't spoken since the incident.

Oh, and the Shabba Ranks duet was called "I was a King." The single reached #64 on the UK charts in 1993. The video featured Eddie and Shabba, dressed in flowing white robes, standing atop a cliff with their arms outstretched. Truly a forgotten classic.

I'm going straight to Youtube

I can't tell you that.

John & Debbie....you know, comedy is just a weak cry for attention.

Personally, I'd never stoop that low.

MF - remember when I thought you were a nun?

Don't you think that Roger (in the Queen video playing the younger girl) looks like Jenny Bradley?

I haven't heard that Queen song in such a long time!

Never knew the video was a parody of "Coronation Street" - I love it, never heard of the corrie version that would be fun to see. You learn something new all time on this blog, thanks.

And yeah, there is a resemblence to Jenny Bradley (too funny) but she was much better looking.

Love Freddy he was such a talent, so glad you posted this video.

Glacia,

"MF - remember when I thought you were a nun?"

ROTFL!!!! Good times!!!

So, my larger question is: in the original Queen video, who on Corrie were they supposed to be? This is what, 1984?
