This Needs To End.

The Canadian 'accent' discussion, it's getting so big that it's almost breaking the internets.

Face it, you, me and Togoland all know what the true Canadian accent is.

It's the flapping head that creates our unique sound.

Same goes for Quebecois.

Sorry, Glacia - that was me driving the discussion.

I want to know what is up with the CBC female newscaster with the really horrid hairdo! It looks like bad Corrie hair fairy hit her...(She is the one with the weird pointy blonde bob) otherwise I always watch your news for more truth about the Iraq war. Our media is too biased!

I was just kidding MF.

Umm, that CBC newscaster is me...

KIDDING!

~missusmac, who would not let Maria or Audrey do her hair.

Jacqueline,

I know, but I'm still sorry - it really had nothing to do with Corrie itself, and I let my curiosity get the better of me.

CorrieLover USA,

I believe you mean Susan Pedlar. Yes, her hair does seem to get weirder looking every few months. However, I look at her quirky hair as relief from the Barbie hair sported by most female newsreaders (I refuse to call them journalists) in the USA. But, her last 'do is truly strange, with the 2 long patches on either side of her face, while the rest of the hair appears to be much shorter.

Seriously, I LOVED the accent conversation because it means that my people may acutally have their own distinct way of talking AND it afforded me the opportunity to post a South Park video, which as we know, has absolutely nothing to do with Corrie.

Corrie Lover USA;

The female CBC announcer you are referring to with the blonde do is Wendy Mesley - I think. If it is, she used to have more hair but lost it all during treatment for cancer, and is in the process of growing it back.

Wendy Mesly has what we call "Quebec hair" which is basically any hair style that looks a little strange.

I see the Roughriders are playing the Roughriders in that video...

Jacqueline,

Of course your peeps talk different. We had a billboard in Detroit for a while, for Tourism Canada. It showed a red rowboat, and it simply said, "How boat Canada?"

Teehee.

LMAO! What is going on with our Tourism campaigns.

My all time favorite was the campaign to try and attract visitors from San Fransisco.

Toronto: As Gay As It Gets.

Noooo! You're making that up, Glacia!

"According to Tourism Toronto, which has been working with Gay Marketing Advisory Group to develop the new initiative, the intention is to show that Toronto is more than simply accepting of, or friendly towards homosexuals.

Homosexual activist Councillor Kyle Rae, who is playing a central role to the new strategy, said, "The tag line 'Toronto: As gay as it gets' comes out of people talking about their cities as being gay-friendly. Toronto's not gay-friendly -- it's gay," Rae said."

I just want it noted for the record that flapping heads (and the beady eyes that go with them) was brought up by an official, card-carrying Canadian. I, the decade-long fan of South Park, was not the one who brought Terrance, Phillip or Ike into the conversation.

Now that THAT has been dealt with, can I just say that I HATE these new "good things grow in Ontario" ad, with Mr. Cannot Carryatune "singing". I develop a tic whenever the commercial is on.

Perhaps Luba Goy will give it the send up it so richly deserves if this season ever starts.

Glacia,

That has to be the funnniest thing I have heard in a looong time.

But I'm picturing the SanFran Tourism Board - "NOBODY outgays us! This means war!"

It leads to a West Side Story type rumble, except way more fabulous!

Corrie Lover USA,

Now I'm really curious - are you talking about Susan Pedlar or Wendy Mesley?

Susan is the anchor for the Windsor News (6 pm weekdays).

Wendy is a national news figure - she does stuff like Marketplace.

Or is there a third person that no one has mentioned yet?
