The Old Rectory

Ever wondered about Jack & Vera's house #9? I found myself doing just that last night, wondering why it's painted so oddly. Can anyone tell me? Here is the history of the house, including why the word "Rectory" on the name plate looks a bit messed up. Was it really a rectory?

The way I remember it was that once Maxine's mother named their home "balmoral", Vera decided that they should name their house too. This offened Vera, and she thought it was sacreligious to name a house like that after the royal palace. We seem to remember that she picked the rectory as a name since she thought it was regal without being too pretentious (HAH!). Being related to the Queen, she didn't want to not have her house named should cousin Charles visit. It was actually Ashley who became the vandalism and started with his mother-in-law's plate on HIS and MAXINE's HOUSE, which prompted the mil to vandalise Vera's and call it the old wreck.

Nice one Kristin, thanks. But why's it painted like that (my old camp colours - yellow and royal blue!)?

I don't know for sure but I think I remember reading somewhere that Jack's brother painted the house those bizarre colours as a 'gift' to Jack and Vera (I don't remember what occasion the gift was for though.)

I don't know why it's painted such awful colours either. Could it be an homage to the royal family? (Royal blue and gold???)
