Barmy for Barmcakes
Meet The Barmcakes – Toronto’s Coronation Street Fan Club.
The Barmcakes meet once a month on the third Saturday of the month at noon at Crabby Joes in Mississauga.
The Barmcakes formed about 13 years ago. It started with about six members who met on the Coronation Street tour and wanted to keep in touch. Since then, it has grown and they have approximately 20 people who attend the meetings.
Our Corrie fan Deborah has been going for about two years now and in November she was asked to be the president of the club.
The Barmcakes have quizzes or games, play bingo, and chat about their favourite show, Coronation Street.
In August, the Barmcakes hold a BBQ and in December, they have a Christmas dinner at Pioneer Village.
Corrie Canuck readers are welcome to join them. Their next meeting is this Saturday, Feburary 18th.
Email Deborah at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
A bread roll, or bap, made from wholemeal flour - also called 'flour cakes'. They are soft and pliable, with a pitted texture. 'Barm' is an old Lancashire word for the froth on liquid that contains yeast.
