An article in the Daily Record states that Heinz baked beans are the UK’s favourite brand, according to a study.
Householders were asked to name the products they looked for when out shopping and rank their level of disappointment if they were not available.
Academics at Bath University, who carried out the survey, said the aim was not to chart the products that sold the most but to focus on those that consumers felt most passionately about.
Heinz products did well in the survey, with their tinned soup range being named the second most desirable products and tomato ketchup coming eighth. The third place brand was Fairy washing-up liquid, followed by Kellogg's cereal range in fourth, Nescafe coffee in fifth and Colgate toothpaste in sixth.
The rest of the top 10 is made up of seventh-placed Walkers Crisps, Robinson's squash in ninth and Andrex toilet paper in 10th place.
Heinz baked beans were launched in 1901 and one can is sold in the UK every 17 seconds.
And next time you’re in Port Talbot, Wales, be sure to visit The Baked Bean Museum of Excellence; the world's only baked bean museum.
