Ten Worst Places to Live in the UK

Salford has placed 9th in a list of the top ten worst places to live in the UK.

Coronation Street’s fictional town of Weatherfield is based on Salford (now part of Greater Manchester.) Corrie creator Tony Warren drew inspiration from his grandmother's surroundings in inner-city Salford. A Coronation Street really does exist in Salford. However, the architecture of the Street was based on Archie Street, Salford, which also appeared in the programme's original opening credits.

Readers who want explore the “crap map” of the UK should read 'Crap Towns: The 50 Worst Places to Live in the UK' and ‘Crap Towns II: The Nation Decides.’
